If anyone wonders why lead is toxic over long time frames and not just immediately, its because the body treats lead like the calcium carbonate (chalk) that makes up your bones. Aka, the body stores the lead in your bones and it slowly seeps out and poison your blood stream through all the decades it takes to get rid of it. Often that's the rest of your life. Take care when handling lead!
